Karen Begley, Litigation Support Specialist

Karen Begley has been part of our legal community since 1983.  She was the Legal Assistant/Paralegal for Deborah D. Olszewski from 1983-2005. In 2005, she became employed by the Pittsburgh/West Virginia office of Mintzer Sarowitz Zeris Ledva & Meyers as Office Manager/Paralegal. During Karen's tenure as a paralegal (1983-2010) her responsibilities included:

• Pre-Complaint investigation, fact gathering and pleading preparations
• Retrieving, organizing and summarizing medical records
• Drafting and responding to discovery
• Drafting of motions
• e-Discovery (key player interviews, preparing data maps, on-site collections, document reviews)
• Assisting with deposition preparation and attendance at depositions
• Selection and retention of expert witnesses
• Pre-Trial case work-up
• Preparation of Pre-Trial Statements
• Compilation of Trial Notebooks
• Trial preparation/ trial support, including trial presentation and courtroom support

In 2010, Karen decided to start her own business, Litigation Advantage.  Since that time, Karen has supported attorneys in trials in Federal and State Court in Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia, Kentucky and New Jersey.
